Desaturate Background Tutorial
In this tutorial, you will learn to desaturate
only the background.
Open up the image that you want to use. I'll be using this photo (credits to Soompi's Stock Thread).
1. Outline the part that you want to stay in color. I used the polygonal lasso tool but you can use
whatever is easier for you. For this tutorial, I did not outline it perfectly but when you do yours, you should
if you want better results.
2. Then go to Select > Inverse or just press
Ctrl+Shift+I. It should now look like this.
3. Then desaturate it. You do this my going to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate
or you can just press Ctrl+Shift+U on your keyboard.
When you are done, you will have a picture where the background is
gray and only the foreground it colored. This is my finished product.
